Galatians 2:1-5
Any additions to the message or the invitation of the gospel must be rejected as warped and wicked counterfeits wielded by enemies of the gospel. Every sinner joined to Jesus by faith partakes of every blessing that is found in Christ. Apart from this, what hope or assurance could we ever have?
Galatians 1:15-24
The necessity of knowing Christ and commitment to preaching Christ are the two pillars of biblical ministry for the glory of God. Galatians 1:13-16
Paul was a rebellious, church-hating Pharisee who did not know how to interpret Scripture, but God called him by grace and turned him into an obedient, church-planting Apostle who not only knew how to interpret Scripture, but also was used as a human author of new Scripture. Does this not shine a beaming light on the transformative power of the gospel of Jesus Christ? Though we are on earth and Jesus is in heaven, we have been Spiritually united to Him by grace through faith. His Spirit fills our hearts; we are seated with Him in heaven (Romans 8:9-11; Ephesians 2:4-6). And nothing can separate us from this supreme expression of God's love (Romans 8:31-39).
Galatians 1:10-12
The gospel only gives hope and assurance because it comes from God. If it came from man, it would be fundamentally unreliable, a worthless counterfeit void of divine power. Just as the lost need God's grace to be saved, the saved need God's grace to be sanctified.
Galatians 1:6-9
As the true gospel honors God and brings life, false gospels are accursed by God and bring death. In Jesus, children of God have gained everything they will ever need for this life and the next. The riches of God in Christ have become their glorious inheritance.
